MoveOn Statement on Arizona Enforcing 1864 Abortion Ban
WASHINGTON, D.C. – In response to the Arizona Supreme Court’s ruling siding with Arizona Republicans on a 160-year-old, near-total abortion ban that fails to protect people even when their health is at risk, MoveOn Political Action Executive Director Rahna Epting issued the following statement:
“Yesterday, Donald Trump said states should decide on abortion bans. Today, Arizona used a law from 1864 to ban nearly all abortions. This is the Republican plan. This is Donald Trump’s plan. They can’t run from it. They can’t hide from it. And they can’t lie to voters about it.”
As The New York Times reported, MoveOn announced the launch of its $ 32 million+ 2024 election program—focusing on reelecting President Biden and Vice President Harris, flipping more than two dozen U.S. House seats, and investing in several Senate battleground states, including Arizona.
